This vase has been in my kiln 4 times. It reminds me of the bible verse that says ‘God is the potter and we are the clay. God puts us through the fires of tribulation so we can become prettier or better people. The more times this vase went through the kiln fires became prettier.

HOW I MAKE MY VASES
I turned this vase on my pottery wheel. The following day I trimmed the bottom, creating 4 feet. Then I put it on my shelf with plastic around it so my pottery will dry slowly. Once it is bone dry I fired it in my electric kiln at about 2300 degrees, which took about 5 hours.

The next step was to dip this into the blue glaze and then fired it in my kiln at about 2900 degrees, another 9 hours in the kiln.

Then the decoration began. With China paint and my fine art brushes, I painted the base paint of this hummingbird and the flowers. I then fired it in the kiln at a low temperature for a few hours. Now I was ready to paint the shadows and add more depth to my porcelain painting. Back in the low fire kiln, it went. One final step was to paint the details of the hummingbird and flowers. One last firing in the kiln and my vase was complete.

Treat it as you would fine-China.

Ready to ship. I wrap my pottery in bubble wrap, then I pack it tightly in the box surrounding it with Styrofoam peanuts. If possible I use recyclable packing material to save them from going into the landfill.
