Food Safe.

To make this toothbrush holder I roll out a slab of clay then I roll it around tubes. Using a slip (wet clay) I press the tubes together. I put the bottom on it. I then add the embossed design with my various textured rollers and found items. As soon as the clay can hold its shape, I remove the tubes. Clay shrinks when drying and if I don’t remove the tubes before the clay shrinks the clay will crack and I have to toss the clay back in my recycle bucket.

Then I put my container on my drying shelf under plastic to dry slowly so my seams stay together. It is then fired in my electric kiln to bisque fire it.

I either paint 3 coats of glaze (the colour) or dip them in a bucket of glaze then fire them in at a higher temperature in my kiln. It takes several hours to fire it then I let it cool to room temperature for a few days in the kiln.

Ready to ship. I wrap my pottery in bubble wrap, then pack it tightly in the box surrounding it with Styrofoam peanuts. If possible, I use recyclable packing material to save them from going into the landfill.
