I turned this pottery serving bowl on a potter’s wheel from porcelain without a bottom. Then I shaped it into this fluted bowl and cut the bottom in a curve to create feet. I attached a slab of clay to the base of this bowl and curved it to look like a leaf.
I let it sit under plastic to slowly dry the stoneware clay bowl to bone-dry clay. I spray-painted a soft pink on the body and handpainted hunter green on the bottom slab and leaves. I then fired it in my low-temperature kiln to about 2300 degrees.
I dipped in my clear glaze. Along with a full kiln of pottery this bowl was fired at a temperature of about 2900.
