Handmade Serving Tray, With A Flower & Butterfly

This tray can be used to serve food in the kitchen, put hair items in it for the bathroom or jewelry in it for the bedroom.

To make this tray I rolled stoneware clay out flat. I rolled a silicon embossed floral design sheet over the clay to get this design. I then formed it into this pottery round tray and fluted the edges. With more clay, I hand-built the flower and Monarch Butterfly. Once it was bone dry I painted the flower and butterfly with underglaze ceramic paint.

I fired it in my electric kiln to bisque ware. I then brushed 3 coats of this green glaze on it. The brown and blue in the glaze enhance the embossed design. I fired it again to about 2900 degrees. A clear glaze was put on the flower and butterfly.
