Green Mug with Carved Brown Cattails

Description

I carved cattails around this mug and the green glaze with brown and blue in it enhanced the cattail carving.

SIZE -Approximate- 4.25 – 4.5″ (11 cm) high and the
3″ (9 cm) across the top rim.
The capacity of about 12 oz

COLOUR- Mint Green with Sandy Brown and Blue accents. The brown shows off the cattails.

Microwave and Dishwasher safe.

My pottery is either turned on my potter’s wheel or formed by hand. Although I try to make each mug the same there are slight differences in shape and size.

HOW I MAKE MY PIECES
I turn cups on the potter’s wheel and set them aside for a day to firm up. The following day I trim the bottom, carved the cattails then added the handle. When they are bone dry, they are fired (baked) in an electric kiln for several hours. I either paint 3 coats or dip them in ceramic glaze and I fire them to about 2900 degrees.

Ready to ship. I wrap my pottery in bubble wrap, then I pack it tightly in the box surrounding it with Styrofoam peanuts. If possible, I use recyclable packing material to save them from going into the landfill.
