HOW I MAKE MY VASES
I turned the plate of this vase with a mix of coloured clays on my pottery wheel. Once it had firmed up I trimmed the bottom. I then extruded a round tube, from the same clay, and with liquid clay slip, I attached it to the plate. I set it on my drying shelf to dry it slowly. Pottery shrinks while drying and drying them slowly prevents cracking and falling away. Once it is bone dry I ed it in my electric kiln at about 2300 degrees.
Once it was bisque ware I dipped it in a clear gloss glaze the glaze fire it.
Ready to ship. I wrap my pottery in bubble wrap, then I pack it tightly in the box surrounding it with Styrofoam peanuts. If possible I use recyclable packing material to save them from going into the landfill.
