Superstition- Is It Worth The Bother?

Are you superstitious?

To answer my question, I would say no. I don’t believe in luck, and superstition is based on luck. Walking under a ladder is supposed to bring bad luck. If someone was on the ladder painting and knocked a can of paint off the ladder, as I walked under it, is that bad luck or an unfortunate accident?

Black cats are supposed to bring bad luck if they cross your path. I’ve had 2 black cats, one during my childhood, and the other as an adult. They were the best cats and definitely didn’t bring bad luck when they crossed my path, which was often. If I didn’t see them and tripped over them, was that bad luck or carelessness on my part?

Then, there is breaking a mirror or spilling salt. I have done both, and nothing bad has come of it that I know of.

Therefore, no, I am not superstitious. Apparently, my great-grandmother was, but she was raised in the Caribbean, which has a lot of superstitious ways.

Are you superstitious? If you are, why are you?
