Was Spring My Right Time To Design A Website

Flower Vase Decorated With Roses

Do you ever have the feeling you did something at the wrong time? This was my fear when I began designing this website.

For many years I have journaled my thoughts and what I’ve learned from God privately. A few years ago I went public and occasionally blogged about pottery on https://butlerpottery.blogspot.com/. In April, I read “How To Get Paid For What You Know” by Graham Cochrane. It is a well-informed book on how to blog your knowledge and make money. Graham recommended two website builders, one being WordPress. I took the plunge and opened this website, and planned to blog often about making pottery. That didn’t happen right away because I was busy learning how to set up my website during spring, my busy season. As a newbie to web design, it was a steep learning curve.

I began to wonder if spring was the best time to start this website. My husband and I live in Canada where the winters last 5 months, not my favourite time of year so I spend it making pottery. When April arrives I have three activities added to my time. My garden and lawn spring to life, which means planting, weeding and cutting the grass, we go to our seasonal cottage and my husband’s Trials motorcycles sport begins. We travel around our province to motorcycle events. I socialize with friends I haven’t seen all year. This leaves very little time, if any, for making pottery.

My Garden

Despite my reservations about starting my new website at the beginning of my busy season, I am glad I did. I was able to take the summer and learn how to develop my new website. I am well on my way to sharing my pottery experiences and adding my pottery for sale. In a few months when winter arrives and my garden is frozen and the cottage is closed I’ll be back in my pottery studio creating new pottery and sharing how I make it.

In the meantime, you can buy my pottery on Etsy.
